New Earrings

It was another beautiful day but still cool. My better half got a bug in his bonnet and insisted we go buy earrings for me. I had mentioned that I have several earrings with no matches. I don't know how I lose so many earrings. I never used to. I look carefully in the floor when I vacuum. I know my vacuum cleaner doesn't eat them. Still they are gone for ever. I really didn't want more to lose but nothing else would do. He insisted I choose and I found two pretty sets. One pair is silver hearts and the other is opal. I love both pairs but I'm afraid I will lose them. I'm almost afraid to wear them. But I do enjoy pretty earrings and I will wear them. I have my fingers crossed that I won't lose these.

You should tell yourself you will never lose an earing again and do some positive steps like making it a habit to put it on a holder or jewelry box

You have such a wonderful husband! I know how you feel. I've found that certain ear wires just fall out of my ears when I wear them. It's better for me to find wires that have a closure so they can't fall out. But those are hard to find these days. Yours sound so pretty, especially the opals! I wish you all the best with them and hope they stick around for a long, long time!

Store them in a small tin that can be closed, it can't get lost if you do that.

Thanks for the info but I lose them while I’m wearing them. Probably when I’m outside because I’ve looked all over the apartment. I’ve lost the mates to all that slide in, now I’m wearing the screw on type. They can’t go anywhere until you take them off.

@RubyHawk That's a mess, I just got my ears pierced recently so I haven't experienced wearing earrings for that long. But you can wear studs if you are always doing things that make it fall off. Mine haven't gotten off my ears sice I pierced them.

@RubyHawk Try studs, I pierced my ears recently and it hasn't fallen off since I wore them.

Wonder how many times they fall into your clothes or hair? Then depending on what you shake or put them on depends on where things fall as well. I have not worn earrings in a long time but I remember sometimes having them fall on my clothes or getting caught in my hair.

I do hope that you will not lose these. I love silver and opals. I bought new jewelry last year so I am holding off on buying any more right now. When I do buy something, I think I am leaning toward opals.

We should have clappers on all of these things! It is easy for something small to get lost.

@Courtlynn That's exactly right. I think the elves sneak in and get them. That's what I used to tell my kids when they lost things.

Yes, wear them as there is really no point to having them without wearing them. If they get lost...well another opportunity to get new ones.

You better watch it closely, if you keep them in one place and still they vanish away, it certainly is fishy

@nitirrbb7 They have the pieces that should hold them tight but evidently they don't always work.

@RubyHawk That's really strange, don't they have something to hold them firm.

That is so sweet! I have to admit, I'm the same with earrings. I'll hang on to them for years, thinking I'll find the other eventually. A couple of years ago I gave up and threw the ones without matches into the trash. Two days later I found one of the matches to an earring I threw away.

Never buy anything expensive that you will easily lose or easily breaks. I get your pain. My brother was telling me to get a more expensive computer but until one last 6 to 8 years for me, the less expensive is the way I am going to go. Tried that route and the longest any computer ever lasted was 5 years but did not use it that often, the longest that lasted in my new world of computer dependency 4 years. They have some work to do for me to fork over the extra money that I do not have in the first place.

I hear you. I'm tight with my money too. But my better half insisted on the earrings. He had heard me complain so much about losing them. We had to buy a new computer last year and I still don't like it.The 10 doesn't work well for me. I thought I'd get used to it but it's the computer not me.
