Former Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin, 27, who was allowed to enter the free agent market at the end of the 2016 football season has landed on his feet with the Philadelphia Eagles.
McGloin signed a one year contract with the Eagles to compete for the backup starting quarterback position since Carson Wentz is the starting quarterback for the Eagles in 2017.
McGloin played four seasons with the Raiders as the backup quarterback to David Carr during the 2016 football season.
When Carr broke his leg during the Week 16 game, McGloin replaced him as the Raiders starting quarterback in the final regular season game versus the Denver Broncos.
McGloin suffered a shoulder injury during the loss to the Broncos which cost him his job with the Raiders since Connor Cook will be the backup quarterback behind Carr during the 2017 football season.
McGloin will basically serve as a mentor to Wentz and an insurance policy behind the second year quarterback during the 2017 football season.

That is true since he is lucky to even get hired to work as a backup quarterback anywhere is the league after his stint with the Raiders.

That is true since Wentz will be in his second year in the league and with McGloin as his backup quarterback, they will be needing all of the good luck that they can get.
