Wow! After a stunning career newswoman Barbara Walters is retiring. I remember her being on 20/20 as a kid. While I'm not a particular fan, nor do I dislike Barbara Walters - there always was a certain, shall we say, familiar comfort to seeing her face on TV. What an interesting life she must have had to this point. I do wonder what she will do that can possibly compare now that she is retired. I will miss knowing that she is on TV but she deserves this break. Enjoy your retirement, Barbara, you have earned it.
ABC has thrown her a week-long goodbye party to mark her retirement. But the TV legend is hinting her future plans could involve creating new shows.

@FayeHazel Yes, she was amazing. Did they say who was going to replace her?

She has had a long career as a newswoman. By far she is one of the best there is. Her face will be missed.

@FayeHazel I have often wondered why those that have made a ton of money don't just retire. See the world, have some fun. But I guess it's just those of us who don't have a ton of money who think like that.

I think the article that I linked to said she quit her current show for like a year or something.....

I've heard of her, but never saw any of her broadcasts, not too surprising living over here!

@FayeHazel I seem to recall snippets of her appearing on the news here, usually over some awkward question for a politician

I'm surprised you've heard of her. Here, she is really famous for being a journalist/TV news reporter - has done so many famous interviews...

At 87 years old I guess it is time retire and enjoy the rest of her life. She probably won't know what to do with herself because she has been doing that for so long. I wish her all the best in her retirement.

I think you're on to something - I wonder if "real" life will feel strange or boring for her. I wonder what she will take up
