Is Dhoni not a good T20 player? Ganguly thinks no, do you agree?

According to Saurav Ganguly dhoni is a great odi player but when it comes to t20 he is not a great player. Dhoni has only 1 fifty to his name in t20. Here the important thing to remember is he bats down the order. And India has excellent batting line up in t20, so the chance or necessity to play big innings is less.so judging based on number of half century is not correct. Also he has done many finishes. So think it is wrong statement from Ganguly.. I agree dhoni is not a great test player. Your opinions on this?

Yeah you have a point since he bats down in the order he may not be able to score well.

Yes t20 is short format of game and dhoni bats down the order. We may consider number of fifties scored by opener , but for lower order batsmen we need to see the finishes they provide.

@HAPPSINGH unfortunately he didn't score well even today. Got out for 5 runs. May be he should bat a little higher in order

@vijay_2016 hmm may be he should but he likes to allow others to play and score.

Tests is a different issue. And I think Dhoni is a great player in ODIs & T-20s too.

Agreed it is not always possible to score half century or century to batmen lower the order. Also in t20 stats they show thirties...it means the benchmark is 30. 30 in T20 is equal to 50 in odi given a shorter format of game

@HAPPSINGH I'm not speaking about stats alone, I'm just saying, the way India plays in tests, Dhoni is much less of an impact player than he is in ODI's & T-20s.

@vijay_2016 I disagree about benchmark scores and statistics, it is the impact & effect on victory that makes a player valuable. That's just my personal opinion. For example, I value Dhoni's 91 not out against Sri Lanka in WC final higher than Rohit Sharma's 264 against Sri Lanka in Kolkata.
