I put this one together to get back to the decade with which I am most expert: the 80's, when alternative dance music ran rampant. We are at #9 in my Favorite 80's Dance Songs, "American - Soviets" by CCCP. Led by Rasputin Stoy (vocalist Frank Schendler is currently the only other band member,) CCCP formed in Frankfurt, Germany as a synthpop act with aggressive industrial leanings (the band now classifies itself as industrial/EBM/electro/experimental, or "Depeche Mode meets Nitzer Ebb.") 1986's "American - Soviets" remains the group's most famous song, a Billboard hit (more than likely the Club chart,) and Top 75 in Germany. But oh man, could this one pack a dancefloor! And it's still fun to this day. So much fun, in fact, that it remains the band's favorite song to play live. And why not? This was pretty intense stuff in the 80's, and has held up quite nicely over time. I still enjoy giving it a listen every now and then. (Info verified by Wikipedia, CCCP website)

Another group that starts off as one genre and then moves into another or several in this case. They didn't make it onto my radar

Old school industrial house. The group must be more underground cult because they didn't make it on alternative radio here. I never heard of them. You have a knack for knowing these groups.

In this case, I stormed the DJ booth and asked who it was. Big club hit.
