Yet another 'bad' thing turned good

TheHorse posted a discussion a few days ago asking what had made us grumpy in the last week. I had to respond, because I'd just had a really aggravating experience with the closest Home Depot store. I ordered a 3-step ladder, and they'd given me a 2-step ladder instead because nobody could find the five 3-step ladders they were supposed to have in stock. Then the employee at customer service was really rude about the whole situation. Anyway, yesterday I decided to stop in at the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store on my way over to pick up some more stuff from the apartment we're moving out of. Total whim, wasn't really figuring that I'd find anything there. And there, sitting in the part of the parking lot where they keep 'outdoor' items, is a 3-step ladder. It's been well-used and has a lot of paint on the tray, but it's sturdy and will do exactly what I need it to do. I saved $15 compared to the one I tried to get from Home Depot, too. The day got even better from there, too, because I went to the grocery store across the street after leaving St. Vinnie's and found five pint bottles of heavy cream from the local Danzeisen Dairy marked down to fifty cents each because they were at their sell-by dates. Their milk is some of the best we've ever had, so I can't wait to use the cream for a sauce or a batch of potato leek soup.
