Favorite 80's Dance Songs #5 - "Go!"

In the 1980's, being in our early 20's, my friends and I spent an inordinate amount of time going to dance clubs, where the DJ's played a lot of alternative music in their rotations. Hence, my Favorite 80's Dance Songs series. We are halfway there. #5 belongs to "Go!" by Tones on Tail.
Daniel Ash was the guitarist for legendary goth band Bauhaus when he formed Tones on Tail as a side project in 1982, along with Bauhaus roadie Glenn Campling, and soon, Bauhaus drummer Kevin Haskins. The group was short-lived, lasting only two years, during which they released one album, three EP's, a slew of singles, and toured both the UK and US once before Ash and Haskins reunited with Bauhaus bassist David J to find fame as Love and Rockets.
Tones on Tail's 1984 single, "Go!", was a fun, high energy affair that always packed a dancefloor, no matter the club.
And you've probably heard it, even if you think you haven't. Moby sampled it for his own tune called "Go," and "Go!" was used in an episode of Beverly Hills 90120. It was featured during the films Grosse Point Blank and Party Monster, and Adult Swim viewers should recognize it from a trailer for Rick and Morty.
Not too shabby for a side project.

I didn't know Tones on Tail was a side project of Bauhaus members. Go was heavily played on alternative radio. Crazy fun song.

Yep, Haskins joined on right after Bauhaus broke up.

Fun song, and a fun video too.
BTW, have you noticed how many of the bands back then had "side projects"?

I know, it's like they were all bored or something. Duran Duran comes immediately to mind.

Every time this song comes on in the car, I have to dance in my seat.

It's a fun, catchy song. A far cry from "In the Flat Fields," that's for sure.

Tones on Tail were pretty good. Don't know if we'd have gotten Love and Rockets had they kept it going, though.
