Am I not doing enough?

Nanjing, China
April 18, 2017 8:08am CST
I'm seeing more and more of people my age (or even younger) doing and achieving more things than I currently do, whether it's making money, being famous, having more knowledge, or basically any other thing that they can get an advantage over me on. Even with my friends and the people I know, it seems that everyone's doing so much more than I do. Am I the only one having this feeling of incompetency? The feeling that I'm kinda wasting my life more and more while other people are making the most of it. The feeling that everyone's doing so much better than I am.

I think you can find some ways. You don't need to compare yourself to others. Thus, you will try to be like them

Be yourself. As long as you don't have to worry where/when/what your next meal is going to be or how you are going to get enough money to pay for bills then be happy for whatever you have. You might look up and see you are a nobody compare to them, but if you look down, I'm sure you are alot better of than some people.

Why comparing yourself to others? Work hard and achieve your dreams. Comparing only leave us feeling dissatisfied.

@definitelynotaziz I too feel that. Sometimes, it makes me jealous & self-doubting. But slowly, I'm progressing. It's all just a perception, I guess.

A somewhat negative perception I think. I should try to think of this less often.

very true, a very frank observation of course. but I think we shouldn't bee too much allied to them because we tend to lose focus of our course and instead let failure or pessimism take control of us. We should just do whatever we are doing now, with too much hard, not competing with anyone and success shall be ours

Do not think so, to believe in yourself, in the fierce competition (no matter what) the most afraid of is that you can only see the gap between themselves and others but can not see their own advantages. For example, as a Chinese student, the fierce competition. Examination results, class ranking...... Since the beginning of primary school, we have been in this competition. At this time, do not (and even can not) feel that they are a big gap, to see their strengths. I noticed your address. I'm not sure if you are really from Nanjing. I'm from Ji'nan. As a resident of mainland China, we can communicate with people from all over the world, which shows that our English is very good, even more than our peers. Isn't that our advantage? Perhaps there are many people just as you envy others in a way to do better than you like to envy you!

Thanks for the positivity. Feel a lot better now . Yes I'm actually Indonesian but I currently reside in Nanjing, to further my studies. I should focus more on my qualities rather than what I lack.

Use the feeling to motivate you to always do your best. And you're not incompetent. I'm sure there are others who think you are doing so much better than they do.

You really are the only one who can answer those questions.. I think it's up to us what we want to achieve in life and what makes us happy..We can't compare what we achieved to that of others..

I actually asked myself the same thing. That only means, we are good enough but we have to learn new strategies. . Learnings don't stop my friend. Don't compare yourself to others because you are way good than them . Always remember that.
