Favorite 80's Dance Songs #4 - "Everyday is Halloween"

We have passed the midway point, as we are at #4 in my Favorite 80's Dance Songs series, which belongs to "Everyday is Halloween" by Ministry. While they have been one of the top industrial bands in the world for a long, long time, Ministry started out as a synth pop dance act, forming in 1981 in Chicago. Since I've used this before, I'll spare you the same old facts in lieu of something interesting: Leader/vocalist/guitarist Al Jourgensen, the group's only constant member, once nearly lost his arm after a venomous spider bite. He also has lost a toe, which was amputated after Jourgensen stepped on a hypodermic needle. On the positive side, Ministry performed the theme song for the Chicago Blackhawks, "Keys to the City." With lyrics telling things from a goth's point of view, "Everyday is Halloween" was a 1984 single-only release. Although it failed to appear on any Billboard chart, the song did get lots of club play, particularly in Denver (Colorado Springs, not so much,) where if we made the 75 mile drive up to Denver, we were practically guaranteed to hear it, no matter the club. Fun Fact: On You Tube, there is a version of "Everyday is Halloween," featuring the original music, but with Jourgensen singing the way he does now with industrial Ministry. While it's a fun listen, I've linked the original. Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

I love this classic. However when I was DJing at a goth/industrial club a decade or so ago, I often played this cover. I know it's heresy to say so, but I might like it more than the original.

@teamfreak16 I thought the samples from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" in there were especially appropriate.

That's a graveyard smash! It'll catch on in a flash! (Oops, wrong "Halloween" song.) I can see why that would be a club favorite. Do you have any idea why there was such a "split" in what you'd hear in Denver versus Colorado Springs?

The only thing I can think of, having lived in both cities, is that Denver has a cooler, hipper crowd.

It doesn't get any better than this. The song was played on KROQ in the day.
