Former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms who was replaced by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo on the Columbia Broadcasting Service (CBS) National Football League Sunday and Thursday Night Football Games will replace former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez on the NFL Today this year.
Simms will be joining former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher, host James Brown, former football players Bart Scott and Boomer Esiason to share his knowledge of the football games.
Simms is still under contract with CBS which is one reason he remains employed with the network.
The silver lining in the dark cloud is that Simms now has his dream job of covering all of the football teams in the league instead of working as a color commentator next to Jim Nantz this year.

Even in the broadcast booth, the aging QB gets pushed aside for the younger guy.

Don't worry, Romo will find a way to get hurt in the booth soon enough.

That is sad and true. In the words of the late John Facenda "Sobering truth and eternal hope."

All my Broncos friends hate Simms because he didn't kiss Denver's butts when he did their games. They're all glad to see him go.

Thanks for the information. So much for Phil being an objective color commentator.
