In the last two days, I have read four articles about Grandmothers abusing grandchildren.

One grandmother included dressing as a witch to torment the grandchildren. She did far worse, but that was a part of it. Another grandmother raped her grandchildren. One grandmother bit her grandchildren. Another one forced her grandchildren between the ages of 4 and 7 to perform sex acts on her. What is going on here? Since when did grandmothers start abusing their grandchildren? Without reading an entire psychology book, I would like to know where this is coming from.

Somehow I highly doubt these kinds of activities started once they became grandmothers, which begs the question - what kind of mothers were they? It also begs the question why the parents would let them be around the children given what they must have endured or at least witnessed during their own childhood. I do know that abuse tends to be a cycle, so maybe that partly explains why the parents are allowing their children to be around these types of grandparents.

@MsBooklover I would hope that more people would break the cycle, especially when they become parents, but unfortunately it does not happen often. I think that if counseling did not have such a stigma attached to it, then that would help a lot of people not only heal themselves but also help to heal others.

That came to my mind. Where are the parents of these children? They, too, may have been abused, and nobody ever told them they deserved better.

@purplealabaster After all these years, you would think there was no stigma related to therapy. Very few people have not had therapy. Of course, when someone is very severely mentally ill, they may fear talking to a therapist about such things.

Omg i thought grandmothers are those who we can trust and supposedly they love their grand children more than their own children. Well this world is so bad to live in now. People are losing their values ane ethics

Hope somebody dressed like a warlock goes after them and gives them a taste of their own medicine. Seriously I think they need psychiatric help or do time in jail or both.

Some have been sentenced already. Yes, they need help.
