Dying Young

Unfortunately rock and roll is not always all about music and fun and enjoyment. In 1969 Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones was discovered dead apparently having drowned on July 3, 1969. On this same day but two years later in 1971 Jim Morrison of the Doors was found dead in a Paris bathtub apparently having died of heart failure. These were both young and vital rock and rollers until things went very wrong. Brian Jones was a very gifted musician and the original leader of the Rolling Stones. He helped to create many of the Stones rock classics. He made use of such instruments as the guitar, sitar and marimba. Unfortunately his drug habit would be the downfall of a great talent. He began not showing up for recording sessions and unable to play right. In the spring of 1969 Jones was refused an entry visa to get into the U.S. because of his latest drug conviction. He was fired by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on June 8, 1969. A bit more than three weeks later Jones who was 27 years old was discovered dead at the bottom of his swimming pool at his home in Sussex, England. A talent wasted and gone much too soon. Two years later Jim Morrison another 27 year old rock star would meet his maker. He was part of the 60s rock group The Doors. He used a most deadly combination of bourbon and mescaline or other kinds of drugs. His death on July 3, 1971 had always been surrounded by mystery. He was found dead in his bathtub in his Paris, France apartment which he was sharing with his girlfriend Pamela Courson. There was no evidence of foul play and since Courson told authorities that Morrison wasn’t using drugs at this time the death was put down as “heart failure”. Biographers Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman have stated that Morrison suffered an accidental heroin overdose on the fatal night. Morrison’s girlfriend Courson admitted that he was using drugs then shortly before her own death in 1974. What I have always found if that it is such a shame when talented rockers like these two and many others die needlessly. The bad combination of drugs and rock and roll and I say imagine how much more rockers like this could have accomplished for our rock and roll pleasure if they had lived. We know that there have been rockers who die as a result of plane crashes that is an entirely different matter and something which they had no control over. What do you think? http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/brian-jones-and-jim-morrison-die-two-years-apart-to-the-day

Its really sad when that happens. I wish that they would not take to using that kind of thing. I remember about Brian Jones and others of course.

Yes, so many of the greats have gone this way. Of course they are remembered through their music but it would have been great if they were still around @lovinangelsinstead21
