The Sonu Nigam Saga!!

So, the latest in news is none other than Sonu Nigam, who is generally a non-contraversial person. But the latest comment by him on the Usage of loudspeakers at mosques, temples and various other places has developed an outrage amongst the people of various sectors. And the step taken by him by shaving is head is really something very bold, which is commendable. My personal opinion about this is that he has definitely raised an issue on a very right thing. Definitely be it in a temple or a mosque, the Usage of loudspeakers should certainly be stopped. Why should it be made so loud. Definitely if u r preaching keep it in a calmer manner. It has created a havoc among certain religions and I guess the whole episode is being taken in a wrong way rather than understanding the right spirit of the comment being made for the welfare of the people as a whole. Kindly let out all your views too on the issue. P. S - there is no pointing out of certain religion or the way they preach, it's just a view as a common man of the nation.

@pravanki Good point. Here in temples and Mosques, the loudspeaker is so loud that patients in nearby hospital are stressed. There are laws permitting stereos but not so loud speakers.

Ya so true. I have experienced the same grievance. And sometimes it goes on till wee hours of the night and even the local police does not take a step to control and ask us to calm down. It is really so so bothering sometimes. There definitely has to be some restriction atleast now. I personally feel that it was really right to have raised the topic and hope the major sector of the people come in sonu Nigam s favour.

@pravanki Yes,they should understand it does not have to do anything with religion. It is about public nuisance and noise pollution.

Loudspeaker or any kind of noise pollution ,be it marriage ceremony,religious/non religious celebration, election campaigning unnecessary honking must be stopped no matter what.I do not understand why no government take it seriously.

Yes.. Agreed. For marriages the way they take out the Baraat.. Is something v v offensive. Though they might have fun. But it's such a disturbance to others. Irrespective of the time they take out the procession. And our so called police department is not much bothered just because they get permission from some MLA or MP.!!! There was an instance where in a procession was being carried out in the midnight and when I contacted the local police, they were least bothered to even investigate the same. Hoping for some change atleast now.

People of one religion or other may hate Sonu Nigam for his tweet on the use of loudspeakers so early in the morning but he has raised a valid point. I work for a charity where old and sick people are taken care of. We have a section for orphan children as well, where about sixty small children live. Since a house of worship was built nearby the inmates are rudely woken up every morning at four. While they suffer due to this high decibel noise, members of another community of faithful sing and beat their drums and ring their bells/cymbals day and night incessantly for days at a stretch at amplified volume. They disturb not only sleep but studying children. Who will object to such things? You say something and someone declares a prize of millions of rupees on your head! It's a sad phenomenon, people in India have turned very intolerant in recent times.
