There are some people dropped out of school to start up their company. If they do this, this will be the heartbreaking moment of their parents. Parents wanted to give everything for their children. Education is the best gift that they can give. Some dropped out from school can be successful in business like Bill Gates. He dropped out to have Microsoft company and it boomed tremendously. How about the others, right? Education is still the best tool to be successful. What do you think? Image Credit: pixabay.com

I went to university for one year and decided that it wasn't for me and that was 47 years ago. I have no regrets and I'm actually glad that I did that. I think that one can get an education without going to university.

For some people, I think education is not for them. They are so many ways to learn and work experience can still be a source of learning process.

Well Shavkat, I never went to university. And never started my own company. Though I did go to school for a trade. And virtually after that working with the trade, I had to make my own money. Yes sometimes it can be a good idea, but one must truly have a good foundation in any path in life.

I think there is nothing wrong with people that cannot able to go to university. They tried to find ways to enhance their existing skills. With such skills, they can able to earn for themselves.

My parents never really understood the value of academic learning over a job and did not really support me aa much as they should through University. I do not think I ever would have dropped out. I really enjoyed the courses I did.

I feel sad to hear that. I guess I am lucky that my parents supported me to study in university. But I do believe that having essential skills through training can improve us.

absolutely not. Education is way more important for me. I can put up a business yes I can be successful too. But you know, education or degree can't be taken away from you. business would fade but how you got your degree wont. And that will always be an advantage.

That's the sad part for some people. They don't know the importance of education. We can do business after having a diploma.

@homebasedbobbie I had met some people like this. They might be successful at present but the world is round.

@Shavkat I know. I even heard they would say, "why would I still continue studying when I am already earning millions? What's education for if I am making a lot of money even if I am a drop out? " Clearly an ignorance about what education can give them. Blinded by success.

You are right, without knowledge and education its difficult to be successful. Only pure luck can help on that and not everybody are lucky.

Personally speaking, I still go for having an education. It is the foundation to be successful or a tool to be somebody in the future.

I started teaching Swedish without university but later decided to improve my English and Spanish, and Finnish and took a study loan I could live on.. The loan disappeared when I became 65 and retired.. I am happy that I studied English and Spanish, as they have helped to get contact with many nice friends.. Well, Finnish is my first language and it is useful here where I live..

That's the most important thing. We can improve ourselves by learning particular languages. It is a tool that we can be proud of. I have the passion of learning some languages. Luckily, I can speak five languages and dialects in my country.

There is only one Bill Gates. Actually few people will get success at the end. The education is quite important. If you really have to start your own business, I don't want you to drop out of university. You have to try to balance both of them. I know it is hard. But there is not much time to study but you shall have plenty time to work.

True. Education is the best tool for being successful in business. If it didn't work out, then the educated person has some other options.

That is not applicable these days unless you really have the talent and the company will hire you depends if they care about your educational status or not.

No, I wouldn't because the chances of making a very successful business like Bill Gates did is very rare. Plus I hate when high school dropouts use him as an example because he dropped out of Harvard not high school plus he is a genius who succeeded very well in school and other tasks all his life so of course, his first business would do well and his father was an attorney which means they had a pretty comfy lifestyle anyway. A lot of people rich people never went to college and some didn't finish high school but a lot of them either came from rich families or knew the right people. I rather have my degree and be on safe side instead of risking it all for something that may or may not be successful. You can learn a lot from college and hands on things. I think it is best to have both instead of just one but college isn't for everyone just like working hard and doing hands on stuff isn't for everyone.

I think we need to play safe and have a degree. I agree that it is rare to be successful in business especially if you are not able to finish university.
