I Have a Plan

It's probably not the best plan, but everybody needs a plan. And this is mine. I am a smoker. However, I have been wanting to quit by summer. The final repairs on my bike will be done after the 1st, and I plan on hitting it hard this summer. So it's time. My favorite smoke happens to be Watermelon flavored Prime Time Little Cigars. They are fairly expensive, so I only buy them once in awhile as a treat. I want to smoke them one last time before I quit. So on the 1st, I'll be buying one last pack of them, after which I will be finished. I have patches ready to go, and more importantly, I finally have the proper mindset. Why don't I just quit tonight, you ask? Because I have a plan. You gotta have a plan. (Photo is of me in Vail, Colorado)
This is a video I created in the 90s with the legendary Jerry Reed. It is his rant on how to stop smoking. We shot it like a sitcom. FYI- He was not smoking ...

It's good that you have a plan..but is your plan to stop smoking? Hope you will stick to your plan. My hubby is a smoker too. He tried to quit smoking once but then he went back to smoking. I don't stop him but I often remind him to look after his health... Good luck and all the best...with your plan..

A class I attended said it takes the average smoker six tries before they are able to quit. I just really don't like doing it anymore.

@teamfreak16 As long as you are not a heavy smoker than maybe it is OK. But still it's good to stop smoking...

Prayers for your success. Are you a VA patient? They gave my brother patches to help him.

@infatuatedbby - I should be done later today or in the morning depending upon what I do today. Either way, I'm ready.

Good luck with giving up, it can be hard work. I don't speak from experience, but a friend of mine has given up several times. Still, he doesn't have the motivation to get some top notch pedalling done!

People who have never smoked have no clue how hard it is to quit. For us, years ago we cut down to a few each day, then little by little got to just one per day. Friends argued you have to go cold turkey or nothing. Why? One thing we did that really helped us was to avoid smoking in our cars, house, around others. We also told family and friends they could not smoke near us, and certainly not in our house while visiting. We had a plan too, and our plan worked for us, just like your plan will work for you.

You can't quit cold turkey. It can be done but the best course is slowly wean yourself off the smokes.

I'm actually doing that this week. I guess I should have mentioned that. I've already smoked a lot less than normal this weekend.
