We are at #8 in my Favorite "( )" Songs series, which is songs with parentheses in the title. From his Nick Lowe-produced 1977 debut album, My Aim is True (Grammy Hall of Fame,) "(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes" was written in ten minutes, in his head, while Costello was between stops on a Liverpool train. He also purportedly wrote the song backwards. (Fun Fact: Costello performed the song on Sesame Street as "The Monster Went and Ate My Red 2.")
