We are losing our privacy on the Internet. How do you feel about that or don't you care?

If you take a look at the different groups online such as Facebook and many others, you notice how hungry they are to reveal your personal information. I am not sure why that is. What do they get from it? There is more jealousy, anger, bullying, bragging than there ever was in the past. Keeping up with the Jones was bad enough for those who participated and many still do. Now, we have juvenile and adult bullying. We have people doing despicable things and putting it on Facebook or other pages. Individuals post lies about themselves to appear rich, successful and super intelligent to people they know. Why on earth was this created?

When I got my first computer back in 1995, it was solely for the purpose of writing. I had no idea that we would be chatting so much. Back then, it wasn't easy to talk to strangers. We weren't even able to be online 24/7 back then. These days, we have no idea who could be spying on us and getting our information. It's pretty creepy.

@MsBooklover So true. Children have no filters and they believe everything they read online. So parents really need to take the time to pay close attention to keep those children safe from harm.

@Alternative4 I agree. They see things happen to children of other people and think that will only happen to other kids. Their children are not in a special box of exception.

@MsBooklover This is something I warned some of my friends about, but they don`t take it seriously. When something happens to their kids it will be too late.

I spent most of the time I have here. I'm on Facebook about once a week and that's it.

I spend less time there, too. I see things on Facebook that I don't want to see.

@1hopefulman You are so right. The one thing that helps us--The Internet--also hurts some people because they have a mind that goes in a direction that is the opposite of helpful.

The internet was a fantasy realm originally. Then it turned into another neighborhood. I liked it better when I could go online without everyone knowing who I am. At least recently I reclaimed some of the fantasy, by creating a pen name and publishing. People keep wanting to know what it is, but it's a secret that I'm not giving up!

I am with you on that. I don't want people to know when I am online. When I am online, I am doing what I want to do. There may be one or two people that I can see myself chatting with, but not 20 different people who are just bored.

@MsBooklover I don't like the facebook messenger much any way. I feel like I need a magnifying glass to read it!

We should never put any personal information on a social site. It might come back to haunt us.

@MsBooklover I can't understand why they put personal things out there for the public to see. Some of it is senseless.

@RubyHawk I think there a lot of people today who need excessive amounts of attention--not just everyday people, either. There are performers out there who need a great deal of it. They also try to impress people for some reason.

Some people just simply don't know the real value and the proper use of the internet/social media. It all boils down to human nature.

I think that is true, too. Human nature can get us into trouble.

I agree. I was just talking about that with someone the other day. If I go on vacation, nobody is going to know until I come back.

I don`t lie about myself. But I am very cautious. I don`t think strangers should have access to my personal info.
