In today’s complex times, it is imperative for parents to realize, the devastating effect mass media and the environment can have on their young children’s minds and behavior. It is possible that the portrayal of life without moral standards and misbehavior minus the consequences, could send unethical and at times, dangerous signal to our children. Hence, it is vital for parents to take time and effort, to formulate a sound value system for children right from an early age. Parents are supposedly the architects of their children’s destiny. But how many parents today consider this to be their top priority? Even in homes where both parents are working, parents can plan ahead to teach children basic values like honesty, compassion and the value of hard work. Schools and teachers can only do that much. More than ever before, parents need to teach their children to differentiate between right and wrong, stand up for what they believe in, cultivate and value good friends and regard themselves as individuals of worth and capability. Children must know that their rights are subject to reasonable social controls and basic moral standards. Raising responsible and successful kids is the matter of giving just the right combination of the simple basics. Image: Personal Album. My favorite grandson is performing on far right

@jstory Indeed yes, parents are their child's best and first teachers. Besides, they need to be good role models for their children.
