People getting bored?

Is it just me or do people tend to get bored quite quickly? I mean, I do one thing for a certain amount of time and then I'm bored and have to move on to something new that can entertain my mind. Is it the same with all or can you keep yourself entertained for a long time with one activity?

Boredom can also be impatience. We have grown used to things being there for us when we need to be entertained. If for instance, the power is down, then suddenly the world we're used to is cut off from our reach. My power is out currently in my home, and while I have this back up space to work and connect, it's a burden to reach. Especially since I don't want to be here late at night. I had to go back for work reasons (selling hay) and the customer was 30 minutes late. With nothing to do but wait, I was impatient. If I had power, I wouldn't have cared because I wouldn't have been 'bored'.

@bacon147 It's electrical withdraw symptoms! We get used to the air being saturated with electricity and certain signals. When we're cut off, we get annoyed and restless. People would say we aren't connected organically, but when I'm in cellular and wifi zones, I can receive information related to certain updates, where I just know they are there (without the aid of a device). When I'm out of that area, I lose my connection with the updates. I think that biological symbiotic relationship is overlooked by most people.

@OneOfMany Well, our brains certainty also gives of an energy. Every living person sends out energy waves so we might as well be connected to anything electronic.

That's very true! When loadshedding hits us, I'm really bored. I know nothing has really changed except for no power but I still feel like time slows down and I begin to get bored.

I don't get bored easily at all. There's always something to do or think about so I'm easily entertained.

@bacon147 Yeah even without 5 children I could keep myself busy anywhere without a problem. I have always been that way. =)

@LovingMyBabies When I'm at work I'm constantly busy so I'm never bored but when I get home and I'm relaxing, I still want to do something. I want to relax but I want to keep myself busy as well without the TV.

I also like to read but only research articles about science and space. I can't stand to read a book. It's way to long. Some research articles are also long(10-20 pages) but that's nothing compared to a book.

@bacon147 For me, a book is too long when it has more than 400 pages.

@MALUSE I have so much respect for people that are that dedicated and have that much patience for reading an entire book. Good work.

Too much of anything is not the best thing. You will get bored after awhile -you do some of one thing , move on then return to it. At least that works for me.

I agree. There's so many things that are nice until you eat or do to much and then it becomes bad for you.
