Major League Baseball does not have a huge Black population. Why complain?

If any liberal sports network has the courage to invite me to be on "First Fake", "Outside The Liars" or "Insult My Intelligence Center" which is going to happen when Power Girl gets her own solo cartoon series on the Cartoon Network which is highly unlikely I would be able to in the words of the late Ricky Ricardo of "I Love Lucy" to explain one flaw of the lack of Blacks playing in the Major Leagues today. The answer to those plebeians is simple. If any person regardless of ethnicity who lives in a poor neighborhood anywhere in the world was offered a kings ransom to get out of high school to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) immediately or wait at least four years to play in the Major Leagues at a small salary "that would not feed a mouse" as the late Moe Howard said on the Three Stooges would say. What would the sports star in the case is LeBron James of Cleveland Cavaliers fame. The answer is that James or anyone who grew up in poverty was given a chance to play basketball in the pros, he would take the money and run. Now ESPN in their wisdom of sports reporting are crying foul just because a few sports fans in Boston insulted Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones. Thanks a lot ESPN, if you guys are offended that a large population of Major League Baseball players are Hispanic. walk a mile in their shoes in their country of origin in Latin America. You would be amazed.

African American athletes knowingly and preferably choose basketball and football over baseball for quicker payouts. Many of them could easily play ball but as you say, have to wait years in the minors then small wage majors until the big money.

That is why LeBron James went to play basketball for the Cavaliers since the Indians would never pay him his salary of $90 million to leave high school to play in the minor leagues but ESPN does not get that point.

the low salary of a minor league baseball player is something like 250,000 to 300,000 a year, even if its just sitting on a bench. baseball is a longer season, so the money per game is lower than the other sports. btw, i dont hear hockey crying about wanting more non-whites in their league.

Or figure skating and platform diving either. ESPN just likes to stir the pot of the lack of Black baseball players but plenty of Latino baseball players who if they become superstars they stadiums named in their honor or memory like Rod Carew has a baseball stadium named in his honor in Panama City Panama.

@Deepizzaguy - lately with espn getting a little more political, their subscribers have also dropped. people watch sports to get away from the days problems and politics is one of them, so when you have political opinions on a game broadcast, the viewer will just turn the t.v. off and read about the end result later.

Here's the bottom line: young blacks would rather play basketball or football. What does ESPN propose to do, force them to play baseball in college?

I guess ESPN does not like Latinos playing baseball since they do not understand their lingo.

@Deepizzaguy -- Sammy Sosa isn't considered "black" in their rationale.
