Last night's local tournament was interesting. As I mentioned previously in another discussion, the weather here is swinging like a 60s go-go club. Last week we played in shorts with a heavy slathering of suntan lotion. Last night? Sweatshirts. For the entire three rounds. I came in second, boosting my local winnings for the year to a whopping $38. To celebrate, here's another one of those great country songs with part of the title in parentheses. #2: The Wurlitzer Prize (I Don't Want to Get Over You) - Waylon Jennings Oh, look, another country song about jukeboxes. (I sense a series....) And wowza, what a country song about jukeboxes. It has a similar theme to so many of the songs with a jukebox: guy is in a bar, missing a girl, playing the songs that either helps him remember or causes him to forget. Waylon's song took a different approach: I'm miserable and I like it. "Wurlitzer," for those who don't know, is the premiere brand of jukeboxes in the world. And, my, how we went from "put another nickle in" from the 50s to "roll of quarters" here. That's inflation for you. And this is a great song for you. The Wurlitzer Prize (I Don't Want to Get Over You) Written by Chips Morman and Bobby Emmons Recorded by Waylon Jennings From Waylon & Willie, 1977 A fresh roll of quarters:

A restored Wurlitzer costs a pretty penny. Remember the little "jukeboxes" at diner tables?

Oh, yes!! Every booth in the diner had a jukebox, and there were jukeboxes on the counter as well. Definitely gotta do a jukebox series.

Those Internet jukeboxes are what do me in. I blow through a lot of money with those things.
