Cinco de Mayo or the Fifth of May is celebrated today. While it began in Mexico to commemorate the Mexican army's victory over the French it has evolved to become a huge event especially in the U.S.
Today Cinco de Mayo is a national holiday in Mexico but with a much smaller celebration. In the U.S. it is a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage. Parades, music dancing and food will be all part of the celebration around the world. I love Mexican food so I will be having some today to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. my favorite is tacos with fresh ingredients. What is your favorite Mexican food? How will you celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

When I read about it elsewhere here I had to surf the Net to get more information. Dedicating days to this that and the other has become a way of the world.

Well lets see my favorite food, but there are so many haha to choose.
I would have to say my Irish roots draw me to fried potato cakes.
Or my Sicilian side would be great Sicilian pizza with anchovies.
I like Mexican food but don't make it and am not celebrating Cinco. I'll leave that to the throngs of people all over my city today. They have tons of food out here.

Based on that commercial I will not be having lunch with The Most Interesting Man in the World.
We have a chain of Tex-Mex restaurants called Chuy's. I'm hoping to go there. Because it's Kentucky Oaks day it shouldn't be as crowded as it normally would today.
