Sweet mango curry

We have reached the tail end of the mango season. We kept aside a few mangoes to make a curry. This is my favourite dish Sweet mangoes are skinned and cooked in water to which a masala is added. Once the mangoes are cooked enough jaggery goes in and then the dish is seasoned with mustard and curry leaves. Do you do anything like this with fruits that are available at your end?

This is a very strange dish for us. Mango with curry seems to be an interesting match. We usually regard the mangoes as the fruits and we just eat them directly.

This we do atleast once a year during the mango season. I like to dip those sweet cooked mangoes in the sweet gravy. I simply relish it.

I had to look up the word "jaggery" as I had no clue of what it was. Now I know, thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn a new word today.

I have never tried that recipe. I remember my mother would add pieces of geen mango in her chicken and potato curry.
