I think there is a baby apple tree growing at the bottom and near the foot of our fig tree in our back yard. It has shiny leaves and may or may not be an apple. I would have to transplant the thing in a spot of its own and wait a few years until I can be sure, meantime I can probably take a leaf sample to a nursery. If it is in fact an apple tree I will indeed want to keep it. When I pull weeds up along the back alley fence of our back yard in the big D, it is often that wild plants come up every springtime. If only I had more knowledge about botany. I used to like reading from a book I owned, bought at a half off book sale once, that was all about trees and shrubs and had many colorful pictures and much detailed information about them. I think I will look into buying another book to look at on this topic if I can't find it in my collection.

Very cool. This year when I was weeding out my planter boxes I found a walnut tree growing in one of them. I replanted it in another pot, not really sure where I will put it yet, but it must be the handy work of a squirrel.

Yep. The squirrels in our area are planting many an oak tree. I could go into business selling baby pin oaks.

agreed, and you can do the same with a lot of other fruits as well. Strawberries, tomatoes, avocados, and even pineapples.

That will be neat if it is an apple tree. You can make apple pies.

With brown sugar and cinnamon. Butter and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Oh forgot, a cup of coffee with it. Can't do without the coffee.

I hope that it is an apple tree indeed. What can be better than having some fresh apples

Remember the story of Johnny Apple Seed? I wish for a park full of them. Maybe a few thousand apple trees, just for the sake of it. We do need more fruit to feed the hungry and the apple is indeed a very good fruit.

@lookatdesktop I wish I can have the same view in the front yard. Unluckily, we don't have an apple orchard in the Philippines.

Is that your fig tree? It must be real nice to have fruit trees in your own yard.

The fig tree was planted by the owner of the property. Somebody named Tillinghast who married Tippit in her first marriage. The Tippit was John Tippit's father, who lived in this house back in 57. That fig tree is very old. I am fond of it because it is one of the trees that were in The Garden of Eden, which I do in fact believe in.

@lookatdesktop the kind of figs here are different...They grow right foot from the branch in clusters. It's so good to have trees with histories...I love trees
