I've Been Working on My Presentation All the Livelong Day....

So I've been MIA today. I have a couple of countdown ideas (I'm just waiting to see if @teamfreak16 and I are on the same wavelength again and he starts a similarly-themed countdown, such as what happened with the parenthetical titles! ), but right now I'm finalizing the work on my country music conference presentation. I'm proud to say that I was the first person to play a Jackson Five song at the country music conference (morphing "Going Back to Indiana" into Robbie Fulks' version when I presented on him a few years ago). This year I may have a James Brown mention! For you trivia buffs: James Brown appeared on the Grand Ole Opry in 1979. Porter Wagoner, known then as "the ambassador of Opryland USA" (the now-defunct amusement park located on the same grounds as the Opry House), invited Brown to be a guest on the Opry. That went over, as Homer & Jethro once said, like pork chops at a bar mitzvah (or, as my late, lamented friend Tim Wilson once said, like a fart in a diving helmet). I took a pause to get some Maalox (I went to Chuy's for lunch today....love the place, but I can only eat there once a week or so because of my reflux not reacting too favorably to Tex-Mex food ), so now it's back to work! I'll see y'all tomorrow from a concert!! Did I mention James Brown? Ow!

I wonder how many non-country performers like Brown have appeared at the Opry. Can you imagine Porter Wagoner at Coachella?
