Are you still friendly with strangers?

I ask this question because my mom was at the mall alone. She was minding her own business when a young lady, who was talking to the phone, asked her the name of the establishment. My mom did not respond because she thinks that it was just a way for the woman to distract her and for her colleague to make a subtle move and get my mom's personal belongings. I just feel sad that we can no longer strike a conversation with strangers because of what small-time crooks do. If you were approached by this woman, will you respond and resort to small chat?

Yes, I think I would, but just to answer her questions... But it is hard to trust any one these days.

Yes, it's sad that we have to change our mind sets because of the way the world has changed.

Yes, I have to say sometimes when I've left the incident or situation, I do assess whether I did it the right way or not. I mean, I want to sometimes give directions or help people but I hesitate especially in crowded places... because I am scared of getting scammed. As for me, I ask questions from security guards, etc because I know they will not say no to me since they have to "at least" be familiar with the area, right?

It is so risky to talk to strangers nowadays. You can barely trust anybody. As they say 'even your own shadow leaves you when you are in the dark'

I would respond yes, I think some people are being honest and just want to chat even though there are so many with suspicious intentions nowadays. We should be very careful in all circumstances, if your mom felt unsafe then it was the right reaction from her to avoid them.

I don't usually talk to strangers. If ever, I am a bit vigilant on this.

We are always reminded never to talk or to trust any strangers. It's better to be safe than to be sorry.
