Growing up and as a young lady I was always a bit obsessed with cemeteries and the monuments there. Walking around them , reading the headstones and some even had glass encased photos of the person there. I would try to imagine the stories behind their lives, etc. While on FB I found this story about a 2 yr old little girl encased in a glass coffin found under a house and of course that total intrigued me. People must have loved this child very much to have buried her in this manner. Like a little princess in a fairy tale. Do you share this interest with me? i keep trying to make this link work but doesn't seem to want to
Investigators are finally able to identify the body of a young San Francisco girl who died 140 years ago and whose death has been a mystery.

I read this story the other day and was so intrigued by it, apparently it used to be a cemetery and all the other graves were moved but she was forgotten it always makes me heart sink hearing buildings being put over cemeteries.

well it has to happen i guess. people being born and dying daily for centuries. think about it. i mean where would the millions alive live if that wasn't a fact? anyway, so much for being remembered. only the famous live in minds forever

@chrissbergstrom yes but eventually most that actually knew about them don't pass it on. luckily your family does but it is fast becoming a lost art. most youth don't even listen to my tales about their ancestors any more. the world especially here in the USA is becoming too fast paced. i bet my great, great grands will know nothing about me

She surely was someone very special to be preserved this way. 140 years that's a very long time.

I don't but it is fascinating what you have told us here brandy. Yes they must have adored that child. Those glass coffins look so pretty.

It sounds a bit creepy to me. I don't share that interest. I do like going into old cemeteries and reading headstones. I had that opportunity when I was in the navy on boot leave. We went to Lancaster, PA and I went into one cemetery and read a lot of headstones from before and around the Revolutionary War time. That was fascinating.
