All of us are not ambidextrous.

Some of us may be ambidextrous. However most of us are either left handers or right handers. If you are a left hander, do you try to perform some of your tasks with your right hand or its vice versa. I read somewhere that if those who use their non functional hand for doing some work, it helps strenthen their brain and brain activities. I am a right hander and I use my left hand for locking the pedlock and some other activities. The picture is by me.

I am a right hander and I never thought to do some works with my left hand. I use together but I can't do any works with my left hand alone.

@Sreekala - The point I was trying to make was - if you attempt to do something with your left hand, it will give you a kind of mental challenge and mental strength.

It is difficult for a right hander to write with left hand. For right hander his/her left portion of the brain remains active and for left hander, his right portion remains active. Have a great Sunday

@Nawsheen Yes, you are right, those of us who are right handers cannot write with our left hands. I also tried on some occasions to write with my left hand but my writing appeared poorer than a child's handwriting.

I am ambidextrous but left dominant, I write with my left hand and it is stronger but most other tools I can use both hands especially when one hand gets tired, I use my right when using scissors I wonder why.

@louievill It is great that you could use your both hands and when you were young, you used to think that all were like you. All are not ambidextrous, now you know.

I am right hander and for writing and eating I use right hand only but I have the same control on my left hand and as I do everything in fast mood I find myself using both hands.

It is great to hear that you make use of your left hand too in performing various tasks. Hopefully you are pretty fast in executing tasks. Is there any task which you do only with your left hand?

@shaggin Usually, one of our hands remain strong and both the hands cannot have the same power. Therefore, if you are not able to do any of thing with your left hand, it is a natural thing.

Well, I am a bit of an exception- and can say I am ambidextrous. When I was small I used to handle most things with left hand. However due to family pressure, I had to change writing with right hand. Now, I use both hands for different purpose. For e.g - When playing cricket I used to bat with right and throw and ball with left. I can use my left hand for cutting nails and some other activities too.

It is really good to hear that you used to use your both hands when you were a child and even now you use your both hands. I think it gives you a kind of leverage and your both hands remain fit and healthy.

I have only tried to use my left hand at sparse times. I get very frustrated as it is too slow lol and clumsy. So I go back to the right hand (natural one) right away. I am far from ambidextrous. I had a hairdressing teacher that was so ambidextrous..she was amazing in her gift.

I am a right hander too, but in my study days, i used to practice writing with my other hand. And i could do fairly well, write readable things , though not as beautiful as with my correct hand.

It means you do try to use your left hand, wherever possible. I think even if you use left hand to give rest to your right hand, it gives you a kind of relief.
