To War Over Whales

QUOTE At last count, Watson had sunk a total of nine whaling ships. Operating under the United Nations Charter for Nature, which was ratified by the UN General Assembly in 1982 and empowers non-government organisations and individuals to uphold international conservation law, he has never been convicted of an offence for his actions. "It's a feeling of incredible satisfaction to put an end to the career of these guys," Watson says. "What they're doing is illegal. The people we go against are no different than bank robbers, drug traffickers or elephant poachers. They're criminals." But he is equally proud of another record. In almost 30 years of shutting down many whaling and illegal fishing operations nobody has ever been injured: "We won't sink a whaling ship at sea. All the whaling ships we've sunk have been dockside with no one on board," he says. END QUOTE and "note-it" here. Please support Capt. Paul Watson and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
