Slab Sugar in Khujand

When I was having the last phase of my volunteerism in Tajikistan, the international non-government organization requested to teach the medical staff in Khujand. They arranged the plane ticket and accommodation in a homestay. At first, I am not comfortable staying in a homestay. Since I am not a kid and not to be treated as one. Eventually, I enjoyed staying there. The reason is that I had seen a slab sugar. It was my first time to see it and tried to find out how they did such product. At the back of my mind, I think it is a good business. “Do you have like this in your country?” Image Credit: https://munroberrysintajikistan.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/img_0742.jpg

I do not see this type of sugar here. I do buy some from the health food store and it is rather chunky as it is raw sugar.

It is possible. You need to crash it like an ice from the freezer.

Tempting indeed! @shavkat Haven;t seen or had this kind of sugar. But we get jaggery made from can sugar here. Better to have this than refined sugar.

I agree. It is not good to have refined sugar. That's the reason why we use brown sugar instead of the white one.

It tastes sweet like sugar. It is still the same taste using regular brown sugar.

It is nice to see this. The sugar is shaped in cubes. The slab sugars are shaped in different forms when being crushed.

This kind of brown sugar is available in my country. I think here this kind of brown sugar comes from the canes. We have lots of canes in my province. It is a natural sugar.

I had only seen this in Khujand. The slab sugar factory is the owner of the homestay. I had seen how they did. I like the slag sugar formation. It is like having a crystal from the cave.

I think it is so nice when served on the table. They tend to crash it before the usage of the slab sugar.

That's nice to look at. It seems we can have it in brown sugar too. We do have palm sugar but it is in the form of blocks.

A homestay is a place where the visitors take good care of the old folks. It is similar to having foster parents. I like the crystallized sugar.
