Don't worry, the moon will get it's turn, but right now, it's time for #8 in my Favorite "Sun" Songs series, and it's a fun one: "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes.
Every decade had bands that were fun to listen to, and for the 1980's, one of those bands was Violent Femmes. Violent Femmes formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1980. They are a stripped down, energetic alternative rock trio that has released nine studio albums. Their self-titled 1983 debut was certified platinum before it ever appeared on the Billboard 200, and they have sold over nine million records overall, which is great for a college band.
"Blister in the Sun" was the lead track on that successful debut album, and stands as one of 80's alternative music's most instantly recognizable tunes. It holds the distinction of being the first ever English language song ever played on The Republic of Ireland's Irish Language radio station, RTE Raidio Gaeltachta, an honor bestowed upon the song by listeners.
"Blister in the Sun" is also prominent in the 1987 John Cusack movie Grosse Point Blank.
(Info verified by Wikipedia)
this is from the film Weekend at Bernies 3. (yes definitely, i checked. thank you. it stars John Cusack as a hitman, not as Bernie who is still dead).

This song is so good, it gives me blisters. OK that was cheesy, oh well, cannot come up with great bad jokes all the time.

By the way, if I had been doing a sun countdown, we would've matched on this song, too....

I had a feeling that we would. I have a really obvious one coming up, as well.

What do you think the lyrics mean? I know there are a lot of interpretations.... ;-) I was gonna say, this better be on your list somewhere. :-)
