May 16, 2017 Have you seen the latest internet rage involving cats? Supposedly if you put some sort of square on your floor, your kitty will be attracted to it and will likely step inside and get comfy. I knew that all the cats in my life loved boxes, but this has me fascinated. I don't have any pets right now, but I have a friend who currently has seven cats. The next time I visit her, I'm taking duct tape and trying out this "square" experiment with her kitties. They say that anything other than duct tape can be used, too, as long as it makes a square (or a rectangle). Fascinating! I love cats! Have you tried this with your cat?

Me either, no cats. Back when I had cats (years ago), I'd have fun with them by securing paper towels on their paws and back feet with rubber bands so they had these "socks". It drove them crazy as they'd dance around trying to shake off the socks, and sometimes leaping straight up from all fours, etc. So funny. I of course would eventually relent and take the towels off of them. Boy were they mad at me, wouldn't "talk" to me for awhile, either!

I think they feel warm and secure in them. My friend's cats also use the boxes as a scratching post.

That's just odd - if it's true. I would be tempted to make a whole range of shapes and try them out!

Yes on the other shapes! I think it at least also works with a circle. Let us know the results of your experiment, ok?

Can't it be a round basket?

oh yes, I think anything that kind of hugs them. I once had a cat who liked to relax in the round sink in my bathroom, lol!

@responsiveme yes, he was unusual when it came to water. He'd always come to inspect the goings-on when I'd run bathwater, then he liked to sit on the edge of the tub and dip his paw into the water. He was one crazy cat.

@blitzfrick that must have been an unusual one because usually they don't like water
