I'm still trying to figure out Mylot and have some questions, can you guys help me out? Here are the questions: 1) What does the numbers in parenthesis, next to the name represent? 2) Is there a word minimum for each post? 3) What makes a post a top rated category? 4) What makes a post interesting category? 5) What makes a post hot category? 6) How long has Mylot been around? 7) What's the best way to get followers?

The number in parentheses is the number of posts you have made (discussions + responses + comments). It may increase or decrease. It increases, of course, every time you post something and it may decrease if any discussion in which you have been involved is deleted (either by the discussion owner or by Admin). There isn't any word minimum for a post but discussions should be long enough to describe the topic satisfactorily and to comply with the Guidelines. 'Top Rated' discussions are the discussions which have gained the most 'likes' in the last 24 hours. All discussions posted in the last 24 hours will appear somewhere on that list. 'Hot' discussions are those which have received the most responses in the last 24 hours. Again, all discussions will appear somewhere on that list for at least a day after they were posted. 'Interesting' discussions are determined by the tags which you have used in your own discussions or, if you haven't used any tags, probably by the tags used in discussions with which you have interacted. If .you are a new user, this list may be randomly selected but I don't believe that has been positively confirmed. myLot has been around since April 2006 (it was actually active a little before that but that was the first month in which it paid users). There was a period from May 2013 until July 2015 when the site was under a different ownership and did not have an earnings program. Apart from that, myLot has a 100% record of paying on time, every time payment has been due. The best way to follow (and be followed) is gradually, as you come across people whose writing you like and whose opinions you value. People will (or should) follow you for the same reason so the more that you interact on other people's discussions, the more likely it is that they'll want to follow you.

First read this The number is the number of activity here (I believe) in parentheses, someone correct me if I am wrong. No word minimum that I know of, but really do not write one word or one sentence discussions, no good. Interesting to people, that is varied..find something you think would be interesting. Hot discussions are probably a lot of activity on them. MyLot I am not sure of the year started but believe it was around 2005, if I remember correctly. Followers will follow or not, for me I do not know the answer to that. Hope I have answered some for you, if not there will be lots of others here who can correct me and chip in. Welcome and good luck.

It's best to get the answers for some of these questions from @GoAskAlice, who (I hope) will at least confirm the answers I think I know: 1) I think they represent the number of discussions the member started (if not also the ones they joined, or their number of likes, or something ... point is: a higher 'number in parentheses' is next to a more-'experienced' myLot member. 2) Not 'in the rules,' but you want to put in enough words to form complete thoughts worthy of more discussion (i.e. for which members don't mind giving you some of the money we share with other discussion-posters) 3) 4) & 5) are in the programming. @GoAskAlice will tell you what you need to know. 6) MyLot's been around for ... a while MostPopularWebsites says the domain has been up since September 2004 (though there was a little while when there was no FREE revenue-sharing) And 7) just follow other members, but focus more on 'being worth following!

See my response for the definitive answers. The domain first belonged to a gardening company of some kind but was bought by or transferred to the current owners sometime in 2005, I believe. If you check the domain on the Wayback Machine, you will see when it actually began to be a discussion forum (and what the site looked like in those days).

2) although it's great that mylot has no minimum word count or character count for our discussions, responses and comments, for me it's still better to add some details/description or context to trigger an interaction. 7) i think followers is also connected to how you interact. if you submit a lot of discussions but don't interact with those who responded, they might eventually stop visiting you. when you visit other people's discussions, try to add more than just a "yeah" "you're right" "that's true" or "i agree." sometimes i ask a question instead.

Welcome to myLot. This is an interesting place to spend some time. I see that Owlwings has responded and he is right on all the time. We all go to him with questions. My advice to anyone new is to write a post and respond to those who comment on it by visiting their pages, read and respond to their post. Interaction is the key word here, If you truly interact here with others you will be successful. Its all about give and take. I see you've been around for a long time...I hope you enjoy this place.

Followers dont matter.. you can follow an recieve followers but it doesnt get you earnings. .. the number is your interacting. And according to your number... You havent really be interacting, so you likely won't be getting paid in June for May.
