Perhaps the main problem of US is not Trump but the social divisions

An editorial piece in Global Times, the mouthpiece of China, gets me thinking about it. The title of the article is "President Trump’s troubles not going away." One particular paragraph says "Every country has its own troubles. The US model represents Western democracy, but it is crumbling, and the resulting social division has become more and more serious." Personally I think the social division in US is already very serious, but the rich who control the 2 political parties in US do not realize how bad it is. When Trump comes on board, the issue is forced to the surface. The fundamental way to solve this is to tax the rich, and subsidy the poor, especially the children of the poor, so that they have a chance to cross the invisible border to enter another social class. As it is, the mindset of the educated high income earners is trapped in its intelligence, and it cannot see the heartache and anxiety of the poor. The mindset of the rich who do not have to work is similarly trapped in the "heavenly bliss" of democracy, believing that everyone can gain the same level of success if they want to. That is simply not true. Without a few good foundations, such as a chance to get into good schools, and a chance to gain mentoring help, the poor are trapped. Those rich who do not complete college at least get into good schools. They will not be so successful if they are trapped in poverty in the first place. The culture in such schools allow them to gain confidence, friendship and mentoring help from their peers and professors.

I have to agree with you on this. The poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. The social inequality is just increasing. There has been tax reforms which have been.put forward by Trump.but unfortunately this will only help the rich gets richer

That is the worst part. When government taxes the rich, and subsidy the poor, at least the poor have the hope that one day, their situation will get better. If the government serves the rich only, and tax the middle class and the poor through all visible and invisible means, then the country will be in trouble.

@Nawsheen With Trump around, it will be much, much worse in the future. His policies are going to make the rich richer without them doing anything, and the working class will have to pay more in tax, and get lesser benefits.

I think those two are actually one and the same, if you get my drift. Never before has a "President" been so divisive, so totally unwilling and unable to even try to look like he's trying to unite us as a country. Then there's his "Us against the world" mentality unless you're talking about Russia and other dictatorships.

Trump definitely causes the social divide to widen. In fact, he is happier to get rid of the poor and the sick by taking away all the subsidies, so that they can die faster.
