Lately we are hearing a lot of talks and news of virus (ransomware) which demanded money in bitcoins. Do u think it is hype created by software companies so that they can sale their anti-virus and security apps ?
Has your laptop/desktop or mobiles been attacked and did considerable damage to its data? What was your steps taken to overcome it ?

My systems were not impacted. I try not to open attachments from unknown sources. Even on my mobile, I use an Anti-virus.

right, however it also becomes very slow when anti-virus is installed.

@gautaam Sorry but not the right logic.
If your system gets infected by a virus, it will do even bigger damage than the "slow speed" you are talking about.
Try going for Microsoft Security Essentials. It works fine on Original Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 and has an option to put less pressure on CPU.
