my tv turns off by itself, help

it is a toshiba md20q41 flat screen combo tv/dvd. when it is first turned on it will stay on a few minutes then go off, then if try to turn it back on it will just keep turning off in few seconds. ihad it on a surge protecter so i changed it to a strait wall connection, it did not help. ithen unpluged it and let it set for a couple of hours and when i turned it back on it work. the next day i came back to turn it back on it started turning back off again.
