Tax religion

Do you think we should tax the church in the United States and use that money for helping those in need such as the homeless and even paying for foodstamps?

I don't think so. Generally the various churches are already doing some missionary works, running some educational institutions, hospices , orphanages, and other charitble and philanthrophic activities.

There is the Separation of Church and State and anything that is actually, directly and exclusively use for religious purposes are exempt from taxation.
