Favorite "Sun" Songs #2 - "The Sun and the Rainfall"

This would have been a perfect entry for World Goth Day, but alas, it was not meant to be. #2 in my Favorite "Sun" Songs is "The Sun and the Rainfall" by The Merry Thoughts. The Merry Thoughts were a German goth band fronted by deep voiced Marvin Arkham. They were active from 1983 to 2000. During that time, they managed just two proper albums, and drew numerous comparisons to The Sisters of Mercy, mainly due to Arkham's vocals, which are a dead ringer for Sisters vocalist Andrew Eldritch. "The Sun and the Rainfall" was originally a Depeche Mode tune, from their 1982 album, A Broken Frame. The Merry Thoughts covered the song on their 1996 album, Psychocult. It's virtually impossible to improve upon a Depeche Mode song, yet these guys did it. They darkened it up a bit, made it a little more aggressive, and yes, if you didn't know any better, you'd think you were hearing the great lost Sisters of Mercy song. While I dig the Depeche Mode original, I love what The Merry Thoughts did with it. Yes, it's that good. Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)
