Pre-Op Later Today

I have a pre-op appointment at 1 p.m. today, which I almost didn't even know about. Good thing I called the surgeon's office yesterday and asked what was going on, since I hadn't heard back from them about pre-op, which they said would be scheduled for the end of this week. The receptionist claimed they'd tried to get ahold of me but had been unable to reach me...yeah, right. Unless they called the wrong number, they didn't call. I don't have any missed calls and I know they have my current number on file. More likely they forgot and are just trying to cover their own tails.
Anyway, my dad said he would be able to drop me off for my appointment but he can't wait around for me to get done, so I will have to take the bus back. If they hadn't informed me of the appointment at the last minute, he probably would have been able to wait for me and given me a ride home. I hate having things thrown at me at the very last minute. I also hate riding the city bus, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm getting very nervous about the hernia repair surgery next week, but I know it's something that needs to be taken care of. Hopefully all goes well and I recover with no issues. I'm not thrilled with the medical group the surgeon is through (Rideout), as they run the local hospital and have been known to kill people due to neglect or malpractice. This is the second time nobody bothered to call to notify me of an appointment through their hospital system, so I am not impressed. The surgeon at least seems competent, so hopefully he knows what he's doing and won't cause me any harm.

@Srbageldog lol yeah. I remember being with my mom and uncle the one day and both of them are practically deaf and I have to yell for both of them to hear me and I feel like I'm being mean by yelling at them and then I try to stifle a laugh as they both try to talk to each other. I have to say it's kind of amusing but I feel for them. My dad is just annoying at times and likes to try and embarrass me, so I know what you mean.

@sissy15 That's funny, but it will probably suck when we're older and in their shoes. Shawn and I already yell "HUH??" at each other a lot as it is. I always say that when we're old, we're going to piss each other off by just yelling "HUH??" back and forth at each other.
My dad was bragging about his solution to all the toilet paper waste in the girl's bathroom at the school he works at. He doesn't put toilet paper in every stall. I got mad at him over that, because it is not up to him to try to save the school district money, and that is gross and unsanitary. I asked if that was the older girls' bathroom and he said yes, they're the worst, and I chewed him out over the fact that most of those girls probably have their periods and NEED toilet paper. He was like "they can just go in another stall." Yeah, because when you have an emergency you're going to skip out for all to see as you wait to use the stall with toilet paper. He just doesn't get it.

Yeah, I was grateful he waited around, but not so grateful that he decided to come inside the waiting area and chat with me the entire time I waited. I really was not in the mood to hear his chatter, lol. Plus he's deaf in one ear and his hearing in his other ear is getting worse, so he can't hear what you say half the time unless you yell it at him. I really didn't want to be sitting there hollering at him about politics or religion or the dirty bathrooms he has to clean at his job. XD

Yes the surgeon is competent, thank goodness for that, and you feel okay with him do you?
That is awful they did not call you and I believe you.
Good you stay on top of things Stacy.
I hope this goes fine for you now.

@Srbageldog Yes laparoscopy is best option Stacey. I know you will be back to your old self shortly, then you can work on the next issue.

@TiarasOceanView The surgeon seemed to know what he was talking about...so hopefully he knows what he's doing! One doctor I saw before didn't even know what a femoral hernia was! Which is shocking. I wouldn't expect everyone to know what it is (I didn't know what it was myself until I learned I had one) but you would think doctors would at least know.
Thank you. The surgeon is doing the surgery laparoscopically, which I've heard is much easier to recover from. So hopefully I'll be back to my old self after a week or two.

Very lucky that you didnt miss your appointment, otherwise you will have to spend time waiting for it again. How long do you have to wait for your new appointment if you missed this one?

I'm not sure to be honest. If I had missed it I wouldn't be able to have surgery next week though, so it would have definitely held things up!
