Day 258
Proverbs 24:3
Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
A walk or drive through your neighborhood will show you all the different architectural styles of houses today. Some homes are more luxuriant than others, yet all of them need many skilled craftsmen to build the house. Once the house is built, the owner starts filling it with things that make for comfortable living.
Solomon wasn’t referring to the structure of the house, or what people put in their houses. He was talking about you. You are a house, a place where the Holy Spirit dwells. The understanding and knowledge by which it is built is gained from your daily study of God’s Word.
Solomon had the Law of Moses, and was told that one of his duties as king over Israel was to read it daily. Only by reading it daily, would Solomon gain an understanding of what God required of his people. As he read the law, he put valuable treasures in his earthly temple.
You have the same opportunity to put valuable treasures in your earthly tabernacle whenever you read and study God’s Word.
God told Moses to build the tabernacle in the wilderness so he would have a place to meet with his people. Solomon built a temple in Jerusalem for God to dwell in the midst of his people.
Paul talked about our earthly temple, calling it a tabernacle, a place where God dwells.
2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (KJV)
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
If then, the fullness of the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, dwell in you, you have your chambers filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
God longs to meet with you. He can only do that if you open his Word and read it daily, spending time in his presence.
Let’s pray: Father, let my earthly temple be your tabernacle where you meet with me when I open your Word to read and study it. Fill my life with your treasures, only found in your Word, and let me be filled with your presence in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
