#8 in my Favorite "Moon" Songs series, songs with "moon" in the title, is a guy making his first solo appearance in one of my music countdowns: Sting, with "Moon over Bourbon Street."
Quite a career Sting has had, both as a member of The Police, and as a solo artist. Combined, Sting has sold over 100 million records worldwide, and, again combined, won 16 Grammy Awards. He is, as a member of The Police, in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Sting is also in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
From his 1985 triple platinum solo debut, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, "Moon over Bourbon Street" is a late at night, jazzy affair. It was released as the B-Side of "The Ballad of Mack the Knife," which reached #44 in the UK.
There was no way this wasn't on this. What can I say? I love this album.

@teamfreak16 No, he never is. Have you listened to his Labyrinth disc -- all music of John Dowland, and played on the lute. It's gorgeous.

@Telynor - I haven't heard it. I'll have to see if any of it is on You Tube.

I thought that sounded like Sting. He seems to have went under the radar as time has past. Still great in my mind and also nice to hear his songs every so often.

I really don't drink bourbon much, unless someone offers it.

This was also one of my favorite songs on the album. "Russians" will probably be the one I like best, with "Dream of the Blue Turtles" tied with this one.

I do like "Russians" a lot. I used to play it on the radio.

Sting became more adult contemporary in his later career and I wonder if he ever covered Moon River.
