Diary Bank Holiday Monday 2th May 2017 I was interviewed live on the radio about my pub sign collecting this morning, which went very well. Though the interview lasted nearly eight minutes it felt much shorter. The interviewer asked some great well thought out questions. My thanks to all at Radio Lancashire. I stayed in all day after the interview as utterly financially broke. I caught up with my writing and read a lot of web pages. It rained heavily and never really felt like a national holiday at all. Diary Tuesday 39th May 2017 A busy day today starting with an early morning appointment to have some blood tests at a clinic my doctor sent me to. I found the clinic easily enough in the city centre, but the nurse tending to me struggled to find my veins. I hate needles and injections at the best of times so getting stabbed with one more than once was grim. After the plastic vampire tubes took my red-stuff off me I went to the community centre to help with their art projects. I helped design a poster for a fun day they are organizing in a few months and chopped the base off over a dozen plastic drink bottles which are to be used as little plant pots at an event for children when the fun day comes round. From there I went to the University where we completed our film festival election process before moving into publicity and marketing activity throughout the Summer months before the Autumn film festival. I returned home tired but happy. Arthur Chappell

Oh that is so nice you were on the radio Arthur. I am glad it went well. Yes it was not very long was it? Would love to have listened to you. Oh yes the blood draws..my son they can never find his veins either. Nice you did the stuff at the community center and I bet the poster will be nice having been designed by you. Were there many films to vote on at the University? Good you came home happy. Hope you had a good rest then.

@TiarasOceanView we voted for 8 movies and rejected just three - good choices and quite close on the voting

@arthurchappell And where do these films play Arthur? And it is locals who make them?

@TiarasOceanView no, they are commercially released films - the venue is Lancashire University and the free festival screens movies addressing mental health issues with public discussion after each screening. This is the festival's 11th year.

Some nurses are brilliant with veins, even when those veins just want to shrivel up and hide away.

@Poppylicious I was beginning to wonder if I had any blood - half expected them to find sawdust or oil

@arthurchappell I've had some amazing ones. I think they were probably Vampires in their other jobs!

i did not realize you celebrate Memorial day over there also. now i know. so nice of you to help make the children things/happy. i know about the vein poking . seems every time i go to the hospital where they most should know how, i end up with bruised arms from them gouging over and over. funny (not) it doesn't happen at clinics and doctors office.

@bunnybon7 we don't - we have a Remembrance Day on November 11th, (the day World War One ended) usually shifted to the nearest Sunday to keep commerce going
