Some Interesting Things That Happened in June In Times Past History is interesting to me, so I like to find out things that happened in the past. Each month has its highlights as far as history is concerned. Here are few things that happened in previous years in the month of June. 1777: The U.S. flag was adopted 1870: The first section of the Atlantic City, New Jersey’s famous Boardwalk was opened to the public. See photo. 1917: The first troops of the American Expeditionary Force arrived in France during World War I. 1959: U.S. President Eisenhower joined Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in the official ceremonies to open the St. Lawrence Seaway 1945: The charter of the United Nations was signed by 50 countries 2003: Strom Thurmond, the longest-serving U.S. senator in history died in Edgefield, S.C. at the age of 100 These are just a few of the things that I found. What can you add to this list?
