Day 266 Proverbs 24:28 Proverbs 24:28 Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause; and deceive not with thy lips. 29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work. Courts are always in session. Somebody is always appearing before the judge for one reason or another. In the case of a jury trial, witnesses are called. What is said on the witness stand will affect whether the accused is found innocent or guilty. If you are a witness, you are under oath to tell the truth. What you are not to do is twist the testimony to get back at the person who did or did not do anything to cause you harm. Lying was as common in Solomon’s time as it is today. People will do everything they can to advance their cause, while destroying someone else’s chances for a better life. Jesus told the people to do to people what you would like them to do to you. The Golden Rule. Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (KJV) It isn’t just a matter of law, but you are to be kind to all people. Consider those times when you needed help and it would have been wonderful for someone to lend a helping hand. Consider all your disappointments and go out and treat someone with kindness because that’s what you wanted. Our world would be so much better if everyone followed the Golden Rule, instead of doing to someone before they did it to them. Then you wouldn’t hear about random acts of kindness because everyone would be kind. Let’s pray: Father, help me be kind to everyone around me, following the Golden Rule and lending a helping hand when I see a need. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
