Gotta Finish Potty Training

This potty training dance we have been doing with our son is still not done. He has half of it down pretty much, the half that involves going number 1. When it comes to number 2, he just won't do it in his potty chair or any toilet. Well he will let a small amount go in his potty chair and then asks for a diaper. He is almost 4 and I was hoping he would be potty trained by now but he just will not get the pooping part down. He makes some progress one day and then loses said progress the next. I don't want to bribe him with any food anymore, used sweets so much before that now he is developing 2 cavities so I shut that down. We get him stickers as rewards but I guess those aren't enticing enough to get him to go poop. He refuses to use any public toilets at all. We make sure he knows that him using the potty chair and toilet is a good thing but that seems to make no difference. I am not sure what else we can do. I have started just putting him in underwear and refusing to give him a diaper when he asks for it to poop. I tell him to go use the potty chair because there will be no diapers for pooping and that pooping in diapers is gross. We've gotten him books about potty training and shown him videos that encourage it. We even tell him how other kids he loves being around like my little cousin and his cousins use the toilet now and still nothing. Not quite sure what else we can do for him. He will soon be starting school next year and I don't think they will take him knowing he isn't potty trained. Any advice? How long did it take your kids or your siblings or whoever to potty train?

Every child is different, but the earlier you train them (some train as of 12months) the better. Not sure whatll work

I don't either. I am thinking maybe he doesn't want to poop in his potty because he isn't in the exact same position he usually is when he pops in a diaper

hoping mine doesn't go that long because I would hate for no school to accept him because of it

Different children will have different style and time to learn.
