Day 270 Proverbs 26:13 Proverbs 26:13 The slothful man says, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. 14 As the door turns upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. 15 The slothful hides his hand in his bosom; it grieves him to bring it again to his mouth. 16 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason. Lazy people are everywhere. Everyone knows at least one lazy person. Lazy people are procrastinators. They wait until the last possible minute to do something expected of them. Lazy people don’t like doing anything, especially work. However, you do find them in the workplace. They do the least amount of work possible, and never overtime. They do the minimum required of them. A Lazy person has great ideas but no follow through. There is no place for laziness in a Christian’s life. Two words that describe our mandate is ‘Go’ and ‘Do’. That is not to say laziness isn’t found in a Christian’s life. They hope someone else will go and do. They will contribute to the project as long as they don’t need to get involved further in it. They would rather be pew sitters than do any work of the ministry. When workers are needed in any area of the church, they do not put their name to it. How can you call yourself a Christian if you are not willing to do the work God called you to do? When Jesus left to go back to heaven, he gave us a commission, called the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. You are to GO, TEACH, and BAPTIZE. There is no room for slothfulness, as Solomon called laziness. Jesus taught by doing and you are to do the same. James had something further to say about the work of the ministry. James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Do you see the difference between being a doer of the work and not just a hearer? God blesses his work. Lazy people can change. If you are a lazy person you can make a concerted effort to change your mindset and your way of life. One way to do that is by volunteering for the various needs of the church you attend. If you put your name on the volunteer sheet, you will do. Once you start doing, people will start relying on you. Once you find people aren’t as bad to be around as you thought they were, you will find yourself agreeing to further acts of doing. You will also find you aren’t alone in the doing. It’s easy to be lazy. However, once you start doing, that will get easy as well. Let’s pray: Father, help me be a doer and not a lazy person who sits on the sidelines and watches everyone else do the work. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Thank you for this wonderful message. Actually, I also discussed this in my class. It is just the first week of the class and yet, many students are already showing laziness.

@annierose Today is the last day of school and they will return either the last week of August of after Labor Day in September. I don't have children in school any longer, not even grandchildren, so I'm not aware of the school calendar unless I happen to see a sign for it - which I did outside a school a couple days ago.

That's sad they're starting out that way. School is coming to a close here. Kids here in Green Bay have just two days left before summer break.

Yes we should develop that mind to start doing. That makes things easier. Why so late today ?

I didn't get much sleep before going to the pool and ended up taking a four hour nap when I got home. I couldn't keep my eyes open.
