We took the car to the petrol station as we needed some petrol for a long journey. My friend was driving the car.The boy was busy filling the petrol to the customers. As our turn came my friend told the boy to open the petrol tank. It did not come. I told him to keep it as it is and opened it just lifting it with a key. This was the problem which needed some minor repair and I have not attended to it. As my friend got down from the driving seat and came towards me another man who was working there came and saluted my friend and I asked my friend if he knows that man. My friend said 'No". I asked why was he wishing him. My friend just laughed. I was busy seeing the petrol. The filled the tank for Rs.500 and asked to give some Rs.5 as there was some extra petrol released. The meter was showing Rs.500/-.My friend asked him why did he stop? When did he put petrol for Rs.500/-.He started saying, I put petrol for Rs.500/- My friend asked him 'when you started filling it was already Rs.100/-.This was the petrol meter of the customer who had petrol prior to us'.He told us 'No' sir and picked up the bill which was showing Rs.500/-. which has nothing to do with our question. I immediately banged him and said 'when you started filling why was the meter showing not Zero? I have been observing your people saluting my friend diverting his attention side by side. Put petrol for rupees another hundred or take Rs.400/- else you will face the consequences". The petrol boy murmured and returned Rs.100/- after taking Rs.500/-. This is how the petrol boys cheat in India. I always suggest you all whenever you visit a petrol station for filling up petrol always ensure that the meter shows zero before filling up.

That is very bad, here we fill our own tank with petrol and we use a credit card in the machine before we start

We don't have that problem here. We fill our own gas tank and it's always zero when it starts to fill. I'm sorry you have that problem there and glad you caught the boy trying to rip you off.

We pump our own gas here. That's awful.

I always make sure the meter is on zero. I fill my car for $20 and that lasts me all month.
