Mallard on a Log

I saw this mallard as I was on my walk at lunch today. It was taking a break so I grabbed a photo. The one thing I found I liked best about this duck is his green head looked almost purple in the light.

He just stayed where he was when he saw me. A lot of them stay here all year and grow relatively tame. They won't eat out of your hand or anything like that. But, you have to be within a foot or so of them before they get nervous.
