University of Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops on Wednesday has decided to retire from coaching the Sooners football program after 18 seasons.
Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley will replace Stoops as the new Sooners head coach.
Stoops decided to retire on Wednesday since he felt the time was right to walk away from coaching the Sooners football team.
It is not clear if Stoops will retire from coaching on a permanent basis or will he return to coach college football with another team in the near future.

Stoops can get a new head coaching position in two seconds if he wants it.

Of course. I think the recent scandals involving one of his former football players that punched a female on camera a few years ago was one reason he decided to retire.

He's a good coach. Maybe he'll go into TV.
