Spoiler alerts – 1988 – Dark Horse Comics Mr Monster has had a troubled history. He was originally created by Fred Kelly back in 1947 for the short lived Bell Features comic, Super-Duper, which folded just as fans decided it was getting interesting. Michael T Gilbert brought him back for Pacific Comics, just as that publication also filed for bankruptcy, but fortunately Gilbert was allowed to take Mr Monster with him to Eclipse and then to Dark Horse. Mr Monster is Doctor Stearne, a medic by day, but a demon turned demon hunter after dark. His World captures him at work on a busy night, catching, killing and sending various demons back to Hell, a demanding job he clearly relishes and does mostly with ease. The following day, in his human guise he tells his friend, a nurse that he had a quiet night but hints to the reader that as the next night is under a full moon, he will be much busier. He clearly hopes so. A quite anarchic figure in many ways, similar in some respects to Hellboy, getting rid of demons before they make humans aware of their presence. It is great that he was not left to perish after hi first appearance in the late 1940’s. Arthur Chappell
